Eggs at Ohm

I started my day this morning with a fantastic yoga class at Firefly yoga in Westwood. My instructor was Hania and she was seriously, awesome. I have been feeling stressed lately thinking about my last semester in college coming up, and this class was just the remedy to slow my mind down a bit and get in better touch with my thoughts & body. Looking forward to going back again.
To refuel, I made a bomb, super easy, super satisfying breakfast.

To Make: I fried two eggs, which I like almost over hard, with just a little bit of runny yolk. I cut up half an avocado and half a tomato, which I layered on two pieces of whole wheat toast. I then added some fresh spring mix. When the eggs were done (and seasoned with a little salt & pepper), I put them on top of the veggies and toast. After that, I sprinkled low fat cheddar cheese on top and put the whole thing under the broiler so the cheese got nice and melted. Add some ketchup and franks, and I'm still full hours later. Plus....anything + avocado, how can that be wrong?

What are your healthy / yummy breakfast ideas?

How to Organize on Pinterest.

I have a true love hate relationship with Pinterest. I use it all the time (probably even too much).  I'm obsessed with the outfit ideas I find, its an amazing way to keep up on trends, and find inspiration in the wardrobe department. I also am obsessed with crafting and cooking, so the DIY's and recipies are so so so useful. I drool over the wedding/party planning ideas. And don't get me wrong, I love myself a good cheesy tumblr-esque quote. The uses are really endless, and overall it's an amazing way to keep track of inspiration and ideas. Long story short, it rocks...most of the time.

That being said, I find that it really is hard to keep track of all the goodness. I went to find a tutorial on a volumized pony tail that I wanted to do, and I was left scrolling for a solid twenty or so. No good. Good news is, I finally found it, but I realized that I had some organizing to do.

Problem number one, I pretty much kept the pre-set Pinterest categories (which in retrospect was a bad move). I've added a few, but most of my pins are lumped under a few very broad headings.
I decided that by breaking my categories down into more specific areas, it will become easier to find what I need when I need it. For some pinners, this may not even be necessary; some people just love the pretty pictures. But for me, the links are just as important. I got the ambitious idea that I would organize all of my pins in one fell swoop.

Here's my Original Pinterest:

And that's where my hate part of the love/ hate relationship comes in. To edit a board, you have to edit each pin one by one. Death. So instead of trying to tackle my entire Pinterest (which I will do slowly but surely), I decided to work on my largest category: My Style. This contained all of my clothing, jewelry, hat/headband, makeup, hair, nails and style ideas. Alllll 800 or so of them. Luckily I'm at work, so I don't really have anything better to do. Hopefully this is a feature that Pinterest will fix soon... I've seen a ton of complaints about it so I know I'm not the only one. But until that day comes, here is the best way that I found to reorganize.

1. Select the board you'd like to work on. For me, like I said, it was My Style.
(p.s I took this screen shot when I was about 2 hours into working on it...there were more than 171 pins, I swear!!)
2. Decide how you want to break it down.
I ended up with 9 new categories; My Style in the Winter, My Style in the Summer, My Style formal/ couture, My Style at Work and House Meeting, Misc. Art, Kicks, Interesting Ink, Hair and Makeup and Accessorize. These even could be further broken down (i.e Hair and makeup into 3: Hair, Makeup and Nails. Accessorize into 2 Hats and headbands, Jewelry ect.). In case you don't know how to create a new board, simply click the "add" icon in the top right, and select "create a board". Label it how you'd like.

Then comes the tricky part: Moving the pins.
I used firefox to do this. I also did it on a Dell (work computer), but I have a Macbook at home. This strategy is totally archaic but it's the best I could come up with. Yes, it's time consuming as well. But for me the rewards are great enough. So here we go:
3. Click the "Pinterest" icon in the top middle of the screen to get to your home screen. Then hover over your name in the right corner, and select "boards". This will bring you to all of your Pinterest boards. Click on the title of the board you'd like to edit.
 4. Hover over the first pin, and select "edit"
5. Which will bring you to the "edit pin" screen. Select the board you'd like to move the pin to and you're all set.

The fastest way to do this, is to open about 10 or so tabs at a time (or as many as you can without getting dizzy), copying the URL of the board that you're editing and then clicking "paste and go". This works better than having to click the back button a bunch of times. Huge pain but what can you do.

Hope this inspires some organization!
Happy pinning!

Current Pinspiration

“People always ask me, ‘You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?’ It came from me. One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl … It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see. Your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it.” —Gabourey Sidibe

Sad day today.

Hi everyone,
I can finally exhale now that finals are OVER. I'm finally starting to phase out of zombie status, thank god. I was going to write a post about all the cooking I've been doing lately, but I feel weird and wrong doing that in light of this afternoons events. There was a shooting in Connecticut, that caused the deaths of almost thirty people, including many extremely young children.
It's a harsh reality to think that the world is that sick, and that there is someone out there that psychologically and spiritually ill to take the lives of innocent children. Children whose parents have closets of christmas presents waiting for them at home. Truthfully it makes me worry about humanity. Make sure you take today to say I love you, and thank all the important people in your lives. Make sure they know you care and make sure you don't wait until tomorrow. I feel so grateful in light of what has happened only about an hour or so away from my home.

Happy Thursday!

Hi babes!
Today has been crazy crazy. My last formal as social chair is tomorrow, so I've got the jitters big time. Everything is pretty much ready, but I'll make sure to take pictures of the set up! Totally nervous, but excited as well.
In other news, I'm dressing up as a gingerbread girl tonight!! Mildly embarrassing how excited I am about it. I hope it looks as cute on as it does on the floor.

VS Fashion Show Hangover

Still recovering from the fabulousness that was the Victoria's Secret Fashion show. I really wish I didn't look forward to it so much every year, but it really is wonderful. I also have a huge crush on Adriana Lima, so that certainly doesn't help my cause. I always feel guilty watching it because it is just a huge advertising ploy. Not to mention the fact that the women are actually perfect, and no matter how many Heismans I rock out during insanity, my legs will never be that long. Nevertheless, the fashion show means that Christmas time is here.
My favorite "theme" during the show was the circus theme. My roomies and I were a circus theme for halloween, so I definitely felt a little nostalgic during that section.
The Resemblance is uncanny, right?

These are some of my favorite outfits from the circus section:

Then came the "calendar girls" section.....love love love LOVE.

Just as a side note, the November native american wasn't aired because people were offended. My personal favorite was April, in the upper right corner.  Cutie patootie boots!

Of course the show was more than pretty ladies, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Bieber of course killed it. Although I'm pretty upset with Rihanna's outfit choices. She is so gorgeous and she was looking a little freaky last night. She's famous enough at this point where she can dress however she wants, but the 90's style sweatshirt around the waist and the pearl lady gaga glasses just didn't do it for me.

BIEBER on the other hand...Initially, I didn't understand the whole fascination with him. As a preteen, maybe I could see it. But now that he's a little more grown, my oh my. I watched the start of his documentary, and seeing him play the drums made me melt a little bit. And my boyfriend has a man crush on him to boot, so he's definitely growing on me. MOST importantly, however, HE HAS AN OWL TATTOO. Soooooo my Chi Omega nerd side gives him a check plus as well...Check it out!
Have a good night angels! xo Jackie

Fish out of Water

Well, this is awkward. I really have no idea how this whole "blogging" thing works. I read blogs every single day, always feel like I'd make an awesome one, yet can't figure it out for the life of me. Maybe I'll use this first post to figure out what the heck a "layout" is. I think I'm in trouble.
